What this rebuild is built from, what is missing, and where every photograph comes from.
The company’s site is gone. rexchanger.com now serves a parking page. Its last version was a Gatsby site captured by the Internet Archive in December 2022; the copy and the logo were recovered from that capture.
The photographs on this site are not the company’s. Every image used for gear and scenery is licence-clear stock from Wikimedia Commons, credited in full below. The site’s own photographs were lazy-loaded by JavaScript and were never captured.
Where the words came from
- Home pagerexchanger.com, captured 2022-12-05: “Your door to the outdoors”, the three value propositions, the gear list and the four FAQs. Kept in _tools/archive/original-pages/home-2022.html.
- Business modelThe Org profile for Rexchanger: the marketplace description and “the Airbnb of outdoor recreation”.
- LogoAn inline SVG in the archived page, recovered byte-for-byte and used as the logo and favicon.
- PaletteFrom that logo: slate #617473 and green #77b983.
- TypeThe archived page loaded Montserrat and Karla from Google Fonts; both are self-hosted here.
- Store linksThe App Store and Google Play URLs published on the site.

Images were resized and converted to WebP for delivery; the originals are in _tools/archive/site-images/.
What is missing
- The company’s own photographs. The Gatsby page loaded them lazily from JavaScript; the archive kept only SVG placeholders.
- Any listing data. The marketplace itself was a JavaScript app behind a login; no gear listings, prices or users survive.
- The app. The Apple listing no longer resolves and the Play package could not be confirmed, so the download page says so rather than pretending.
- Rexprotect terms. The policy is described on the site; its terms were never published there.
- The blog. The site linked to /blog; no post was captured.
The loop
The eight-second loop on the home page is not company footage. It is a slow pan generated for this rebuild from one of the stock photographs (the ski slope), and the photograph is credited above.
Deviations, stated plainly
- Six pages instead of a single page and an app. The original was one landing page; this separates the marketplace, the gear, the FAQ and the download.
- The markup is new. The original was Gatsby; this is static HTML, one stylesheet and one small script.
- Copy is quoted. The three value propositions and the four FAQs are the company’s own sentences, lightly corrected for obvious typos.
- Photography is stock, not the company’s. This is the one substantive substitution in the rebuild, and it is credited in full.
- This is not a marketplace. Nothing here books a rental or lists gear.
